LEARN TO LOVE & LOVE TO LEARN

The Pushpa Convent Higher Secondary School Family is very happy to publish its website. The goal of the institution is in essence the holistic formation of child. The acquisition of knowledge along with character formation is the right way to attain this goal. On this occasion, let me contemplate on these important aspects.

In order to acquire knowledge, we have to search for it. As the bible verse says, “The heart of the intelligent acquires learning, the ears of the wise search for knowledge.” (Proverb 18:15) [/pullquote]We will be interested in searching only those things that we love and long-for earnestly. When we have that sort of love for learning, it will lead to the budding out of curiosity to search for the causes and reasons behind every phenomena that we see in our daily life. Then, we will start to understand the concepts rather than following the old rote-methods of learning. In the words of Albert Einstein- Any fool can know. The point is to understand.” (Albert Einstein) Once we begin to understand, we will try to apply the knowledge in various fields of our life to make it better for us and for our society. The first step in these processes is nothing but “LOVE TO LEARN”.

One of the most important aspects of education is the character formation. It aims to foster the moral values and develop the virtues in the character of child. The supreme virtue among all virtues is love. The true love fosters all other virtues. It makes a person to fight against the prevailing discriminatory attitudes in the society in the name of religion, caste, gender, age, race, nationality etc. “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres.” (1 Corinthians 13 : 4 – 7) The knowledge gained through learning is useless, if that produces a citizen without love and concern for his society. As the bible says, “If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing” (1 Corinthians 13 : 1 – 3) The character formation in children must hover around the motto “LEARN TO LOVE”.

The PCHSS family strives hard to achieve its goal by attaining academic excellence. The dedicated staff of the school nurtures and cares the blossoming little buds to spread the fragrance of love in the world.
